STATE SMALL BUSINESS CREDIT INITIATIVE (SSBCI)

The State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) is a federal program designed to provide small businesses and entrepreneurs opportunities to diverse business capital (funding), free business consulting and resources.

Our consultants offer assistance to help you connect with financial institutions and meet lender requirements to put you in a better position when applying for a business loan. Even if you have been denied funding in the past, we may be able to help. SSBCI consulting services include:

  • Legal Consulting Services can include assistance with business formation, compliance, creating and reviewing business documents, capital acquisition, and ownership transfers.
  • Accounting Consulting Services can include QuickBooks training, setup, clean-up, maintenance & guidance to achieve accurate financial statements.
  • Financial Advisory Services provide guidance on financial management, reviewing business credit history, developing a business plan, identifying sources of financing, and creating a loan package.

Who is Eligible

The SSBCI program assists Pennsylvania for-profit and eligible non-profit businesses that self-certify as being owned and controlled (51% or more) by Very Small Businesses (VSB) or Socially and Economically Disadvantaged Individuals (SEDI).

Very Small Business (VSB) is defined as a business with fewer than 10 employees.

Socially and Economically Disadvantaged Individuals (SEDI) are defined as:

  • Women owned, Veteran status, Limited English proficiency, persons with disabilities,

  • Long-term residence in an environment isolated from the mainstream of American society, residence in a rural community, residence in a community undergoing economic transitions,
  • Persons otherwise adversely affected by persistent poverty or inequality,
  • A business enterprise that certifies that it is owned and controlled by individuals whose residences or plans to build, open, or operate a location are in Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) Investment Areas.
