The Small Business Development Center at Bucknell University provides confidential, no-cost consulting and training workshops to individuals throughout central Pennsylvania. The SBDC gives entrepreneurs the knowledge and skills they need to start and grow successful businesses.
Whether you’re just getting started investigating your business model, are looking to develop a business plan or are seeking to innovate and grow your business, the SBDC can help you succeed.
The SBDC provides entrepreneurs with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed. Our events include training workshops on business startup and growth; and special programs featuring entrepreneurs and business owners throughout the region.
Bucknell’s annual BizPitch Competition gives student entrepreneurs a chance to win seed money to launch their ventures. Students connect with advisers, tap into Bucknell’s active entrepreneurship ecosystem, and secure membership in StartupLewisburg.

Susquehanna Fire Equipment Company
As one of the longest-term clients of the Bucknell SBDC, Keith knew exactly where to turn for help when the pandemic disrupted his business. Keith and his team worked quickly and closely with the SBDC as they applied to the U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and Economic Injury Disaster Loan program (EIDL). The company was soon approved for funding through both programs and every employee was happy to report for duty.

InstaGlam
Jenna and Angie first sought consulting services from Bucknell’s Small Business Development Center in October 2022. Through their collaboration they developed a business plan, marketing strategies, financial projections for grants and loans, and an understanding of tax requirements for their business type. After years of determination to work together, they achieved their dream and became business partners and co-owners of InstaGlam salon in January 2023.
