Golden Coast Opens in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania

In the spring of 2016, Bridget Brown approached The University of Scranton Small Business Development Center (SBDC) for assistance in starting a up-scale retail women’s clothing store. Not knowing much about the services of the SBDC, Ms. Brown first inquired as to what types of services the Center could provide to her in getting started.
The Center consultant’s worked with the Ms. Brown on determining the cost of her project, assisted her through the start up process, discussed her options for financing, and assisted creating a business plan. The SBDC also, assisted the client with understanding how retail mark-ups work, marketing ideas, social media marketing, and planning a grand opening.
With the help of the Small Business Development Center, Ms. Brown opened Golden Coast in the fall of 2016. She also received a $25,000 personal loan which she used for renovations and inventory. The Center then helped Golden Coast plan a ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony which was held on October  21st, 2016. The ribbon cutting / grand opening was attended by Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania council members, State Representative Sid Kavulich, as well as family friends of the owner.
Golden Coast now offers a shopping experience with fun new clothes, accessories and gifts, in a relaxed environment provides a high-end clothing store in Clarks Summit focusing on styles inspired by life along the Pacific Coast Highway.
The SBDC will continue to assist Golden Coast, with financial management and marketing assistance.
