WOMENS ENTREPRENEURSHIP CENTER

The University of Scranton Women’s Entrepreneurship Center (WEC) is a program of the Small Business Development Center (SBDC). WEC student interns and SBDC staff offer business start-up information, guidance, and encouragement to lower income women, those experiencing a life transition or those trying to make a better life for themselves and their families. The WEC offers individual, confidential consulting programs such as:

Coffee & Confidence

Coffee&Confidence is a one-hour session for women to network and exchange ideas, gain support guidance. Each session features a guest mentor who shares her unique story and offers encouragement.

StartUP

The StartUP series is a six-week series where participants learn through live sessions (currently held on Zoom) about the steps needed to develop successful small businesses.

StartUP Virtual

StartUP Virtual is a six-week, self-learning program that gives women the step-by-step guidance they need to develop successful small businesses and like the flexibility of a virtual learning series completed on their own schedule.

Centers of Excellence (COE) are recognized for creative programming and collaboration to provide industry sector specialized programs and services to industries and core areas most severely impacted by the pandemic in the Commonwealth.

COE Agriculture Badge

Agriculture Center of Excellence

The PA Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs) at PennWest University Clarion, Penn State University, and The University of Scranton established the Agriculture Center of Excellence (Ag COE) to assist Pennsylvania farmers, food producers, farmers markets, retail food establishments, restaurants, and all ag-related businesses. By leveraging host institution resources and partnerships, the initiative will support agriculture industries throughout the state through specialized educational programming and consulting services.
