Eric Neith attended the First Step program held by the Lehigh University Small Business Development Center in 2012. At the time he was operating a small, catering type barbeque service from his home while still working full time at another job. He planned to one day expand his business to be a full service BBQ catering service, and began to work with Lehigh SBDC consultant Mary Beth Zingone to reach his goals.
Today when you see his behemoth BBQ wagon pull into an event and he starts to BBQ, you know he is on his way. Not only does he receive rave reviews for his food, Eric has perfected the experience based purchase by providing aroma, flavor, and visual appeal to his customers.
Smokin’ Outlaw BBQ is fast becoming a local tradition in the Greater Lehigh Valley. The business is in demand at major fairs and festivals and has branched out for weddings and other private events. It now offers full service packages that include menus tailored to fit perfectly to each occasion. Eric is savvy at marketing and management, promotes his brand consistently, and backs it up with service and quality. He also gives back to the community that he has grown up in not only by creating jobs, but by hosting special events and fundraisers for various charities.
This year there is a new addition to the Smokin’ Outlaw BBQ family, What the Shuck Roasted Corn! The product is a perfect complement to his menu and can also be a stand - alone which gives him flexibility for events. True to his business model, he has once again captured the experience sale with this new product.
Eric still works with the Lehigh SBDC, his future plans include a permanent location and expansion for the business. The business has carved a niche and taken a foot hold in the LehighValley food arena. In fact, Smokin’Outlaw BBQ was voted the Winner for Best Barbecue in the Lehigh Valley for 2015!
