Ever since attending grooming school Renee Fisher-Garcia had a passion for providing this service to pets. Before starting her own grooming business Pampered Paw Renee had previously worked for more than four years with another grooming shop. She built up a faithful clientele base but longed to have her own business.
The search was on for a business space. Once Renee found a suitable location for her new shop, she started putting plans into reality. Thanks to the help of her husband, in assisting to make the new location ready for business, along with the guidance of the SBDC, Renee was able to get her business off the ground and running.
The Bucknell University SBDC provided Renee with assistance through several training workshops and individual consulting meetings. In the matter of a few weeks the details of store hours, services to be provided, how much to charge, planning for cash flow, keeping the business books and paying taxes were worked on during the consulting sessions. Within six weeks Renee was ready to open the shop.
Renee opened her business on July 1, 2015, and as of that date, had already booked most of her established clients at her new location.
Renee is enjoying great success with her business. With a packed schedule she works alone but provides stellar service to each client. Her customers can attest to this. One customer noted that “Renee is awesome! She "loves" what she does, she is meticulous in her grooming, and she wants only the best care for your dog. Denali loves going to see Renee and is always eager to jump in and be pampered…. I highly recommend Renee for all your dog's grooming needs.”
Being able to make a successful business out of one’s passion is something that not everyone can do. Due to Renee’s hard-work and precision, Renee has created a wonderful name among her clients. Her reputation, along with the help of the SBDC , has afforded Renee with the ability to do what she loves– to pamper pets!
