Cook Forest State Park Welcomes Bearfoot Cabin

Ken and Nancy Skeddle had always enjoyed the relaxing environment they felt at their home located near the beautiful Cook Forest State Park. With the encouragement of friends and family, who had regularly stayed at their guest cabin when visiting from out-of-town, they felt it was time to let others enjoy the peacefulness of the evergreen and hard wood forest beauty of north west Pennsylvania.

While reading a local newspaper, Nancy saw an advertisement for the Clarion University SBDC First Step seminar. She attended the training program to learn about how to start a business and followed up by requesting direct assistance from the SBDC.

The Clarion University SBDC assisted Nancy with Pennsylvania business registration, sales tax registration, website development, social media marketing, and general business management assistance.

On May 1, 2016 Bearfoot Cabin officially began operations. Sleeping six, this quaint cabin is located on a private road that provides an intimate and comfortable home away-from-home. Nancy is the cabin manager and her husband, Ken (a retired machinist) handles all of the property maintenance.

Bearfoot Cabin is available April through October for daily and weekly rentals. It is located within minutes of the Clarion River in Cook Forest State Park and is also pet friendly. Renting out the cabin on a regular basis, Ken and Nancy, hope that Bearfoot Cabin will continue to be a growing business and attract more visitors to the Northwest Pennsylvania region.
