Embellish Salon and Formal Wear Now Open in Lock Haven

Ashley Kramer has been in the beauty supply industry for 11 years. Ashley has worked for Bonnie’s Hair, Nails & Tanning Salon for the last 5 years. Once the opportunity to purchase Bonnie’s Hair, Nails & Tanning Salon arose, Ashley knew this was a great opportunity to achieve her dreams of owning her own business.

Ashley and her husband John both attended the Lock Haven University Small Business Development Center (SBDC)’s “First Step for Starting a Small Business” seminar where they learned about the registration process, business structures, business plans, and financial projections. They also learned about different types of funding that are available to small businesses in the area.

After the training seminar, Ashley and John approached the SBDC for assistance with developing a business plan and financial projections to secure a commercial loan from a bank. During the next several months, Ashley and John met with a business consultant on numerous occasions to assure their business plan and financial projections were complete.

After the completion of the business plan and compiling all the necessary supporting documentation, Ashley and John were able to secure financing in January of 2016. They received their requested amount of $125,000 to purchase the business and completely renovate interior of the business. The seller was also willing to offer seller financing in the amount of $60,000. They had to shut down the business for a week due to renovations. The picture above is their newly renovated space.

On March 12, 2016, Ashley and John Kramer openned the doors of Embellish Salon and Formal Wear to the public. Embellish Salon and Formal Wear Studio, LLC. currently employs 9 part-time employees and plan on hiring additional employees in the future as the business grows.
