Gia Jones opened a Beauty Boutique specializing in the sale of beauty products, hair weaves, hair extensions, wigs, accessories, and much more. Gia is operating out of a remodeled room in the garage of her home in Jersey Shore. She is marketing her business to people that use these products as well as to associates that attach weaves and extensions in the Lycoming, Clinton, and Center Counties area .

Gia has extensive experience in using these products and felt that there was a need in the area for more variety, specifically for weaves, extensions, and wigs. Gia felt that with her knowledge in this industry and her networking ability, her business would be well received in the area.

Gia came to the Lock Haven University Small Business Development Center (SBDC) needing assistance with the development of a business plan and financial projections, as well as with registrations and start-up information to get Beauty Boutique started.

She was able to start Beauty Boutique with assistance from the SBDC in developing an effective business plan, information on registrations, and marketing information. The business currently has one employee (Gia) that handles all business operations and needs at this time.

By providing assistance, the SBDC has had a positive impact on this local business. The SBDC assisted with compiling the necessary information, assisting with providing registration and start-up information needed for this business to start, assisting with preparing a business plan, financial projections, marketing/advertising plan, and holding a ribbon cutting ceremony. The outcome of successfully starting this business is that it has allowed Gia to become a local small business owner in the area.

After six months, she expanded the business Gia Hair and Things to a second location at 514 Hepburn Street, Williamsport, PA.
