Jason Carnahan had successfully built a campground with 93 campsites on the family farm and had attracted a loyal customer base over the 7 year history of the campground. He knew, however, that he needed to add amenities and additional sites to take the business to the next level. By adding amenities, e.g. as a convenience store, a pool and a bath house he could gain additional clientele, better accommodate existing customers and add revenue.
He needed to refine his development plan and convince the bank that sufficient revenue would be there after the improvements.
The Indiana University of Pennsylvania Small Business Development Center (SBDC) helped Jason convert his envisioned plan into a document the bank could use to assess and justify the loan.
  • A comprehensive business plan with narrative and projections that clearly conveyed the problem, opportunity, benefits from and justification for the financing.
  • Jason received all requested financing in a timely manner to allow for new facilities to be developed, ready, and marketed for the 2014 summer season as planned.
  • Willow Farms Campgrounds will be adding 42 additional campsites along with the attendant electrical hook-ups.
  • Further increased business value due to addition of new bath/shower house, swimming pool, and on premise convenience store.
  • Increased word of mouth and referrals among existing clients and camping market due to the adding of the new facilities.
  • Further establishment of the campground as an area attraction with modern, popularly demanded facilities.
