Moore Research Services, Inc. is a market and opinion research company that provides unbiased information about consumer opinions to business partners. As a second generation business owner, Colleen Moore Mezler knows the power of flexibility, collaboration and strategic planning. Colleen’s mother, Peggy Moore started the company in 1969. 

Initially, the small research company utilized a system of door-to-door product sampling for collecting data. Today, Mezler and her 20 employees still use some traditional research methods such as telephone surveys and product placements, but the key to the growth of Moore Research Services has been their agility, adaptation of technology and their investment in the Erie region.

Mezler turned to the Gannon University Small Business Development Center (SBDC) for assistance instrategic market planning, coordination of resources, corporate philanthropy and public relations. As a past recipient of the AthenaPowerLink award, Mezler realized the need for Moore Research to further diversify its client base. She developed a global, national and regional client “wish” list to begin the recommended diversification process.  In developing the “wish list” and incorporating it into an ongoing strategic marketing plan, the subject of corporate philanthropy was discussed as an implementation vehicle. Mezler has always been socially responsible, but her efforts were not strategically aligned with Moore Research further emphasizing the value that information and research provide to a business. After much brainstorming, a plan for an Inaugural $10,000 Research Grant was formulated and the marketing plan for the pre-event and post-event marketing opportunities began.
The response was overwhelming in that 11 regional for-profit and non-profit organizations submitted applications for the grant. Utilizing a local panel of 13 business men and women, United Way of Erie County was selected as the Inaugural grant recipient. Currently, one of the applicants will be working with Moore Research as a client.
