Elements Board Shop

Elements Board Shop, founded December 2009, had a very positive winter season selling snowboards and winter apparel while the area received just shy of 100” of snowfall. Elements Board Shop now has a fully developed website which includes great videos entitled “Sick Trick of the Week.” The target customer is “all about action sports and absolutely loves sick tricks!” The videos feature local boarders “thrilling” at nearby Peek'n Peak Ski Resort. Also, Elements has entered the world of e-commerce with its on-line store offering a full range of products, a “drag and drop” shopping cart and Pay-Pal.

Jeff Jones, owner of Elements, achieved top-of-mind-awareness among his intense “boarder” customers through his effective market strategies and campaigns. His effectiveness is illustrated by the fact that he hired a part-time worker in April. With the warming summer season, schools on summer break, and Presque Isle State Park beaches open, Jeff is selling his majority categories of stand up paddle boards, wake boards, water skis and summer apparel. Things are going swimmingly as evidenced by Jeff promoting his part-time worker to full time and hiring a part time worker.

The staff was very busy with the June 21, 2010 Hyperlite Wake Board Demo Day being held at Presque Isle Bay. The sold-out event featured Byerly and Hyperlite Team riders/stunt performers Aaron Rathy and Clayton Underwood. Afterwards, the store hosted a highly successful “meet and greet” autograph session.

Elements Board Shop is strategically positioned within the Erie community. Their 2010 summer calendar events are: the July 4th Millcreek Township Parade where Elements‟ Skateboard Team will perform stunts as they precede the Elements‟ boat; free rides and demos will highlight both the July 24-25th Discover Presque Isle and the August 21st March of Dimes‟ Paddle Erie.

The Gannon Small Business Development Center (SBDC) team assisted Jeff in many areas starting with his attendance at our First Step Seminar. Since becoming a client, the SBDC has assisted Jeff in start up, business and market planning and financial projections. Recently Jeff attended a seminar on search engine optimization. Assistance continues to focus on public relations marketing with various community organizations.
