Angeli Winery, run by Dan and Shelly Proper, has been producing a variety of artisan wines since 2006. The business began selling their wine in 2008, and has since grown to supply eleven restaurants from Erie to Slippery Rock. The business recently expanded to its new location in the former EK Thompson & Son Pharmacy in the center of downtown Titusville. With this expansion, Angeli Winery divided the space and added the Towne Square Eatery & Bake Shoppe to its product offerings. Visitors can now enjoy wine tastings as well as a wide range of home-cooked meals at one location.
Amy Keth, business consultant for the
Clarion University Small Business Development Center (SBDC), assisted the owners in expanding their business. “Amy’s services were vital to our growth," said Dan and Shelly Proper. "Amy went above and beyond to help us every step of the way.”
Through the assistance of the Clarion University SBDC, Angeli Winery was able to secure a $250,000 loan through the Titusville Redevelopment Authority needed to acquire their new business location and equipment.
With the addition of the Towne Square Eatery and Bake Shoppe, the business has been able to hire three new employees. The new café offers a variety of food options that change daily, and strives to utilize local food sources. Next door to the Towne Square Eatery and Bake Shoppe is the Tasting Room for Angeli Winery. At this location visample from Angeli Winery’s award winning wines. All the wines are made from grapes and other fruits of Northwestern Pennsylvania with minimal use of chemicals. They also use local blueberries and honey in an effort to support local growers. The winery has received six international awards, including a gold and silver. They most recently received a Bronze medal for their Sweet Mead at the 2011 Finger Lakes International Wine Competition.
Through the help of the Clarion University SBDC, Angeli Winery has been able to expand to a new location and hire new employees. The business has even further plans to consolidate to the new location and renovate the interior of the café to include a larger area for banquets and meetings for the community.
