Pennsylvania SBDC Joins with PA Healthcare Coalition for 2016 ACA Compliance Update for Businesses with 50+ Employees

Business owners and managers are encouraged to join the Pennsylvania Healthcare Coalition for an informative webinar to discuss compliance updates for the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) that will affect businesses in 2016. 

This webinar is for businesses with 50 – 99 employees. Attendees who tune in for this 30-minute webinar will be able to review any issues that need to be addressed by year-end as well as things they need to be aware of/prepare for in 2016. The webinar will also highlight best practices small business owners should be doing from a compliance perspective.

The webinar will be led by legal and tax experts Lindsey Snavely, Esq. of Rhoads & Sinon LLP and Matt McNelis of Baker Tilly Virchow Krause LLP.

Presenter Information:

Matthew McNelis, CPA, Senior Tax Manager
Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP

With over nine years of experience practicing in the area of taxation, Matthew McNelis serves as a senior tax manager at Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP in the Northern and Central Pennsylvania regions.  He is a certified public accountant and a member of both the AICPA and the PICPA. 

In his position, McNelis interacts with a variety of small business and mid-market clients.  He specifically focuses on tax compliance for closely held businesses and related shareholder/owner tax issues primarily but not limited to the construction/real estate and manufacturing fields.  

In addition, McNelis serves on the firm’s Specialty Tax Services team focusing on advanced tax planning techniques including accounting method changes, fixed asset reclassifications, and inventory issues.  McNelis is a summa cum laude graduate of Susquehanna University.

Lindsey E. Snavely, Associate
Rhoads & Sinon, LLP

Lindsey E. Snavely is a member of the firm’s Business Litigation and Employment & Labor practice groups.

Ms. Snavely’s practice focuses on representing public and private employers in all aspects of labor and employment law and litigation.  In addition to providing counseling and advice on all employment-related issues, she defends employers in discrimination and wrongful discharge claims, claims under the Family and Medical Leave Act, non-compete and breach of fiduciary duty injunctive relief cases, wage and hour claims, unemployment compensation claims, and labor arbitrations.  In this regard, Ms. Snavely regularly represents employers in actions brought before the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and state and federal courts.

Prior to joining Rhoads & Sinon, Ms. Snavely served as Counsel, Global Labor & Employment for The Hershey Company.  In this role, Ms. Snavely supported the Human Resources organization in all aspects of global labor and employment law, including disciplinary matters, wage and hour issues, employee safety, Union-related matters, leave issues, compensation and benefits, and global mobility matters.  She also managed employment litigation and labor arbitrations, drafted and reviewed personnel policies, and provided training on important employment topics such as medical leaves of absence, discrimination and harassment, and garnishments.
