As part of its IMPACT project focusing on growing exports to the Pacific Alliance countries, the Duquesne University SBDC invites all Pennsylvania small businesses to attend CONEXPO, an international trade show for the construction industries, being held in Chile over the dates of October 20-24, 2015.  Companies interested in the Chilean market are invited to attend a seminar that will review the construction, oil and gas, mining, petrochemical, power generation, transportation equipment manufacturers and engineering industries.  The seminar will be held on July 15, from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at Duquesne University and will also be available by webinar.

The informational seminar will include discussions on the Pacific Alliance countries of Mexico, Colombia, Peru and Chile, discuss current business opportunities in Chile, feature a speaker from the U.S. Embassy in Chile, provide an overview of the CONEXPO show, and review a case study of a local company who is doing business in Chile.

This initiative is part of the Market Development Cooperator Program grant from the U.S. International Trade Administration, U.S. Department of Commerce, awarded to the Duquesne University SBDC to help businesses expand to the Pacific Alliance Countries of Latin America. Their goal is to increase U.S. trade with these countries within a three-year period, sustain economic growth, support American jobs, and strengthen the global competitiveness of U.S. firms, particularly Pennsylvania manufacturers.

With the world’s largest copper mine, Chile signed a free trade agreement with the U.S. and is a major investor in Latin America. Chile is the first country in Latin America that was admitted in the group for “developed” economies as an Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD) member. The Chilean economy has been growing at over five percent each year for the last 20 years. The owners and organizers of the world-renowned construction and infrastructure equipment trade show, CONEXPO-CON/AGG in Las Vegas, have recognized the opportunities for U.S. firms in Latin America’s growing economies and are expanding the show to Chile.

Companies interested in entering the Chilean market are encouraged to contact Brent Rondon at (412) 396-5670 or and also sign up to attend the July 15 seminar.  More details below.
