The Pennsylvania Small Business Development Centers (SBDC), along with the U.S. Commercial Service, Manufacturer and Business Association, and Northwest Commission are hosting a half-day program to discuss exporting for small businesses on May 27, 2015 in Erie. More than 70 percent of the world’s purchasing power is outside the U.S. and 97 percent of all U.S. exporters are small to medium-sized companies. Small businesses looking to increase sales and profit, reduce dependence on the domestic market, and stabilize seasonal fluctuations should consider learning more about growing their exports by attending this event.

The morning keynote speaker will be Honorable Phil English, former U.S. Representative, and the lunch keynote speaker will be Honorable U.S. Representative Mike Kelly. Throughout the day, topics discussed during the conference include “Breaking Down Barriers: A Toolbox for Export Success,” “Getting More from Your Export Markets,” “Export Financing Solutions that Allow You to Compete with the ‘Big Guys,’” and “U.S. Export Controls, Embargoes and Compliance.” Sessions will create a better understanding of navigating the challenging world of export trade regulations and opportunities.

U.S. exports had its 5th straight year of record highs reaching $2.35 trillion in exports. In 2014 the U.S. achieved record exports breaking records in 52 export markets. Pennsylvania is and has been a top 10 ranked state exporter, of which 49 percent of exports went to the 20 free trade agreement markets in 2014.  To join in this success, the Pennsylvania SBDC encourage all small businesses to become more aware of the tools and assistance available to make your company an exporting success.
