Widener SBDC Offers Seminar in Chester to Assist Small Businesses in Accessing Federal Contracts

The Widener University SBDC will be offering a special half-day seminar on the Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) for small businesses on Tuesday, February 10 at their location in Chester.  The HUBZone program of the U.S. Small Business Administration helps certified small businesses in designated urban and rural areas (areas with low median income and/or high unemployment) gain preferential access to federal procurement opportunities.  Many areas across Pennsylvania are designated HUBZones, including the City of Chester.

Business owners who attend this seminar will be able to learn the details of the program, what businesses qualify, and the advantages and challenges to HUBZone certified companies.  Topics that will be covered include:

  • Overview of the HUBZone program.
  • The geographic location of HUBZones
  • What type of businesses can qualify for the program
  • Advantages of being a HUBZone certified company
  • How to get certified
  • Support programs for HUBZone qualified companies

The HUBZone seminar will be held on Tuesday, February 10 from 9:00 a.m. until 12 Noon at the Widener University SBDC located at 1350 Edgmont Avenue.  There is no charge to attend this seminar, however pre-registration is required.  To register for the seminar, click here.
