In its April issue, Main Line Today gave praise to individuals and organizations from the Main Line area who are working on notable green projects and initiatives.

Nancy Crickman, Director of Environmental, Energy & Technology Services within the Pennsylvania SBDC’s Environmental Management Assistance Program (EMAP) was highlighted as a winner for continuing to provide free, confidential environmental assistance to small businesses.  EMAP also helps companies be more environmentally-friendly by evaluating compliance and examining opportunities to introduce best practices.

The article pointed out EMAP’s effort with Yellow Springs Farm, a native plant nursery and artisanal goat cheese dairy, in Chester Springs, Pennsylvania. EMAP offered environmental assistance with the installation and financing of a solar system, while also helping to reconstruct a barn to support processing of the farm’s award-winning goat cheese.

Crickman said her “Green Dream” would be “to have more incentives to help small businesses finance upgrades that will make them more green,” along with “additional grants, rebates, aggregate purchasing or other incentives [that] would help motivate businesses and consumers to take action.”

Small businesses can contact EMAP for confidential, no-fee environmental assistance by calling their toll-free hotline at 877-ASK-EMAP or by emailing .
