Spring into Exporting with Lehigh University SBDC seminars on Foreign Markets in Japan and South Korea, International Document Training

In May, the Lehigh University SBDC will host two seminars focused on international trade in Bethlehem. The events are intended for senior level managers, marketing and sales executives and any company representative involved with international shipments. The cost of both seminars is being subsidized by the Small Business Administration’s STEP grant and the Pennsylvania Center for Trade Development for qualified companies with less than 500 employees who are profitable, and export ready.

Spring into Exporting – Bethlehem, PA
Date: May 10, 2013
Time: 8:15 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Admission: No cost
Details: The new Free Trade Agreement, in addition to South Korea and Japan’s place as the fourth largest goods trading partner in 2011, provides U.S. companies with many opportunities. Business owners who attend this event will gain a better understanding of how to take advantage of these opportunities. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with in-country representatives to assist with determining product marketability and identifying relevant trade events. The seminar will also address market entry strategy, company competitor profiles, and support with potential partner meetings.

International Documentation Training – Bethlehem, PA
Date: May 21, 2013
Time: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Admission: $99 per person employed by companies with less than 500 employees; $250 per person employed by companies with more than 500 employees
Details: Attendees will learn how to correctly fill out commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of Lading, EEI’s, Certificates of Origin, and Dock Receipts. The seminar will address the importance of using a DCS Statement, how to minimize delays in Customs, and the errors when filling out NAFTA Certificates of Origin. Attendees will also learn which countries require a Wood Certificate, Legalization of Documents, and Pre-Shipment Inspections.
