Small Business Saturday is November 24

  • Share |

Small Business Saturday is on November 24th. It is a day dedicated to helping small businesses and their communities. In 2010, American Express founded Small Business Saturday to help small businesses gain more exposure on one of the biggest shopping weekends of the year, which includes Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

In 2009, it was estimated that Pennsylvania was home to around 100,000 small businesses. These businesses represent 98.3% of all employers and employ 48.5% of the private sector workforce. When people support local, independently-owned small businesses, they create jobs, boost the economy and preserve neighborhoods around the country.

Last year, more than 100 million people participated in Small Business Saturday. This year, the organizers of Small Business Saturday hope to increase that number by offering small business owners free advertising.

By visiting the Small Business Saturday website, business owners can create a free personalized ad through November 19 to be included in the Small Business Saturday media plan. Through this placement, they will receive free geo-targeted online advertising that drives traffic to their website or Facebook page. Free marketing materials such as personalized in-store signage, online banners, logos and social media and email templates are also available for download. There will be community events organized across the country in support of small businesses on November 24, as Small Business Saturday enters it's third consecutive year.
