Saint Vincent SBDC Client, Carbi-Tech, Receives Visit from SBA

  • Share |

Earlier this week U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Administrator Karen Mills and Congressman Mark Critz toured Saint Vincent SBDC client,  Carbi-Tech Inc.

Carbi-Tech, located in Vandergrift (Westmoreland County), is a manufacturer of custom parts that sells to the auto and medical industries throughout North America.

Rhett Crooks, co-owner of Carbi-Tech, thanks his success -- in part -- to the Saint Vincent SBDC, who helped him start his business in 1996:

"I was a tool and die maker by trade, but always dreamed of starting my own business and taking my talent to the next level," said Crooks. "Sixteen years ago, I founded Carbi-Tech after taking a class titled The First Step at Saint Vincent College."

Carbi-Tech, Inc. now employs 20 workers and is seeing an increase in growth as the auto industry shows signs of improvement.

According to SBA Administrator Mills, America’s economic recovery is directly linked to manufacturing plants – like Carbi-Tech:

“Manufacturing is a big initiative for the President – this is where recovery is happening,” Mills said. “Today’s manufacturing shops are very high-tech and SBA is working with resource partners at colleges like Saint Vincent’s to create advanced manufacturing opportunities.”
