The Wharton Small Business Development Center (SBDC) co-sponsored the Philadelphia 100 last night. The event honors the 100 fastest growing, privately held entrepreneurial companies in the Greater Philadelphia Region. Businesses are ranked based on the 3-year revenue growth rate from 2008 to 2010.

The award gala, held at the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania, also included a networking session for the region's most successful entrepreneurs, business advisors and Philadelphia 100 companies.

From the Philadelphia Business Journal:

This year the No. 1 fastest-growing company on the list was Decision Distribution, a Yardley-based wholesaler of construction materials founded by Daniel Goldman that grew a whopping 5,634.7 percent between 2008 and 2010 with revenue of $34 million last year. Winning companies boasted revenues ranging from $171,000 to $154 million, with median revenue of $4.3 million and a median growth rate between 2008 and 2010 of 91.6 percent.

Started in 1988 by the Entrepreneurs' Forum of Greater Philadelphia, The Philadelphia Business Journal and the Wharton SBDC, the Philadelphia 100 has recognized some of the region's finest companies when they were just beginning to emerge: Mothers' Work, Fiberlink, Urban Outfitters, Forman Mills, Kremer Laser Eye Center, and Primavera Systems, just to name a few

The Philadelphia Business Journal will release a special edition print supplement that highlights the Philadelphia 100 winners in early November.
